A new synonym for stupidity is Republicans
Today, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) would not rule out supporting former President Donald Trump in 2024 even though she voted to convict him after the attack on Jan. 6, 2020. But then again, one Republican voter explained that the current version of Joe Biden is a “fake,” and “the real Biden was assassinated at Gitmo in March 2019.” She also thinks that Michael Jackson, JFK, Jr., and Princess Diana will all return to attend Trump’s inauguration because he helped them “escape.”
According to Raw Story, “during his speech before a Texas “Save America Rally” on Saturday night, Donald Trump’s mouth got far ahead of his brain, and he struggled at times to produce a coherent sentence that led rallygoers and viewers at home wondering what he was trying to say.” Is this a ploy to make prosecutors think he is mentally unfit to stand trial?
In a rant about the New York case, Trump said a link between those probing him there and Hillary Clinton, who was previously the Democratic Senator for the state.
Then there is this…
Records obtained by the Brennan Center in a lawsuit filed under the federal Freedom of Information Act reveal that the Trump administration made multiple attempts to interfere with the 2020 Census, pushing further than previously known but meeting stiff resistance from career Census Bureau officials on many fronts.
At stake was the accuracy and legitimacy of the population counts used to divvy up seats in the House of Representatives, draw electoral districts, and distribute $1.5 trillion annually in federal funding. The 2020 Census ultimately escaped disaster, but these documents emphasize just how vulnerable the count is in the wrong hands.
It’s hard to overestimate the stupidity of most of the Republicans who support Trump and believe the election was stolen.
The real danger is the Republicans who want the party to distance themselves from Trump and move on. If the party is successful in doing that, they could be a real challenge to Biden in 2024, but it seems that stupidity within the party is alive and well.
