Politicians stupidity is leading to more COVID-19 deaths here in the U.S. and eventually we have to hold them accountable for their ignorance and lies.
-South Dakota’s governor encouraged people to go shopping the same day the state reported its highest single-day COVID-19 death total.
-Republicans Make Up 70% Of The Members Of Congress Who Have Tested Positive For Covid-19.
-America is sliding into a winter limbo of alarming spikes in Covid-19 cases and deepening economic pain while an apathetic lame duck White House and a deadlocked Congress provide no political leadership.
-As Pfizer pharmaceutical breaks news for bringing Covid-19 vaccine, a former vice president and Chief Scientist of the company Michael Yeadon said that there is no need for any vaccine to end the ongoing pandemic.
It will probably take years before data scientists can analyze the data from this year to determine how many deaths from COVID-19 were preventable due to political ignorance.
I spent the weekend reading comments on Facebook around posts about COVID statistics. The amount of ignorance is stunning. From people who feel that COVID is no worse than the flu to conspiracy theories, I was shocked that so many people could be so stupid. Still, then again, Americans are among the most obese globally, leading to a lot of healthcare problems and higher healthcare costs.
I’ve realized that no amount of DTC advertising will change the beliefs and attitudes of an ignorant public. It has to be a full-court press with HCP’s, insurers, pharmacists, and every other company involved in healthcare to tackle the health falsehoods killing people.
You can bet that history will note the complete void in leadership that led to the highest mortality rate for COVID in the world. During this time, it should also be noted that most pharma companies did nothing to stem the lies that lead to serious illness and death.
Sure, pharma is developing vaccines that look really promising but don’t think for a minute that the financial return is not at the forefront of their development plans.
I’ve written, many times, on this site about how the lack of exercise and our poor eating habits are leading to rising healthcare costs. We’re too lazy to eat right when we can compensate by taking a prescription medication. Too many still don’t understand the real dangers of diabetes, and doctors and insurers do not have the “talk” about weight and exercise.
I like to think that the people I see exercise understand but then I remember that for everyone I see running or cycling there are eight more who are sitting on their asses getting fat and adding to our countries health burden.
Eventually, pharma has to take sides and become more about wellness and the dangers of poor health, but, more importantly, they need to call out politicians who lead sheep to the slaughter.
