The danger is too real we need a stronger resistance

COMMON SENSE SAYS: Never underestimate the opposition. If we don’t fight every day, Republicans may successfully overturn legitimate elections and trashing the Constitution.

I’ve said it before, and it’s worth repeating: Republicans know how to use power, Democrats don’t. The danger of a Republican coup is genuine. Consider this scenario as laid out by Bill Mahr:

1ne: Republicans regain the House and Senate in the 2022 mid-term elections.

2wo: Two out of three battleground states that currently have Democratic Governors could elect Republican Governors.

3hree: Out of the 14 Secretaries of State in the U.S., only two acknowledge that Biden won the election.

4our: Over 20 million people believe the election was illegal.

5ive: More Republican states make it harder to vore, limiting potential Democratic voters. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, nineteen states have enacted 33 laws that make it harder for people to vote. Fifteen states made it harder to apply for a mail-in ballot. Four states limited mail-in ballot drop boxes. Four states imposed stricter mail-in ballot signature requirements. Eight states set more demanding voter ID requirements. Seven states made it easier to purge voters from the rolls.

6ix: Trump wins the Republican primary and is the candidate for President in 2024.

7even: Even if Trump loses, he declares himself the winner of the election.

8ight: Violence breaks out across the country, and the stock market crashes.

Republicans are wielding power like never before. Twelve states have refused to expand Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act, leaving as many as two million people without health insurance. Three of those states have Democratic governors who have attempted to get their legislatures to go along with Medicaid expansion but have been stymied by the state legislatures. Six states that recently expanded Medicaid coverage did so only after citizens forced the issue with ballot measures. All had governors and legislatures that had previously refused to extend range. Republicans and Donald Trump know they can’t win legitimate elections. There aren’t enough of them. So theyare engaged in a war, with the aim not of winning elections but of taking over and exercising power that, at least until now, came from winning elections. Republicans can’t rely on doing that, so they have transformed their party from one that participates in democracy to a fascist party engaged in a takeover of the United States of America.

Democrats may or may not “win” in 2022 and 2024, but the elections are already over. Republicans have declared that only their votes count. Unless we get together and stay together and use our numbers to protect our democracy, we will end up living in their fascist country ruled by their dictator.

Bill Mahr calls it a “slow coup,” but the threat is genuine. Democrats need to be a lot smarter and fight just as dirty as Republicans. Voters cannot take our democracy for granted, and the Attorney General needs to go after criminal wrongdoing.

We need more resistance fighters NOW!!
