Trump in 2024? That’s a joke right? — Common Sense and Politics
COMMON SENSE SAYS: Nobody knows if Trump is going to run in 2024 but the media loves to use the headlines of a possible run because it makes for great copy. What really matters is that we get as many resistance voters outcome the midterm and next presidential elections.
Donald Trump is having money problems and they’re bad. By saying he’s a candidate for president he can collect money from his dumb supporters and spend it as he wants. If he files for a run for president he will be subject to an audit of all his election funds which you know is going to lead to problems.
Nobody knows what’s going to happen in 2024 or who is going to be the Republican candidate. The news that both Cotton and McConnell were working behind the scenes against Trump should be an alarm to ALL Trump Republicans.
Even though Trump got a lot of votes in the last election we’re also witnessing a backlash against Trump by Conservatives and former Trump voters. While some idiot Republicans refuse to acknowledge that Biden won the election a majority of voters understand that line is pure bullshit.
Trump’s assault on the values underpinning the Constitution did not end when he left the White House. Ever since he has made acceptance of his massive election confidence trick the entry point for many Republican candidates seeking his valuable endorsement in the midterm elections next year. The House Republican Party has become a vassal for his extremism, including its absurd, whitewashing claim that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, rather than Trump, was responsible for the worst attack on the US Capitol in 200 years.
Trump and the Trumplicans are a continuing danger to American democracy because the movement represents the last defense of a population desperate to maintain the status quo of the past and against the social change occurring in the culture. Trumplicanism is driven by a longing to maintain the way we were and resist what we are becoming. Race, gender, and economics are at the core of their unrest. In short, everyone needs to stay in their place. Again, even a cursory glance at the videos of January 6 pieces of evidence that Trumplicanism is generally an angry white male phenomenon. Trumplicanism represents a cultural lag.
By the time 2024 rolls around there is a great chance Covid will be well under control and the economy will be humming along. The biggest threat may be from inflation which is going to raise its ugly head again. Businesses are passing higher costs to consumers and OPEC is raising prices again on oil. There is very little ANY politician can do to fight inflation.
Nobody knows what’s going to happen in 2024. The polls don’t matter because people change their attitudes quickly. Trump could be in jail, indicted or his health could further decline. We need to be an active part of the resistance and keep fighting for the truth of how Trump attacked our democracy.
